Down by 4 points with 26 seconds left, the Warriors scored the points they needed to force the game into regulation with two diametrically opposite plays. The first was a Monta Ellis three-pointer (the first game action in the video below).
Note the clockwise movement used to spring the open shooter in this sequence. The Warriors, on a play that did not follow a timeout, run this double-screen/double-shooter action to perfection.
Vlad Radmanovic and David Lee are the screeners, with Steph Curry and Monta Ellis at the free-throw line ready to use them. Curry goes around first.
After delaying for a second, Ellis takes his turn around the double-screen. Curry continues his cut, taking Donte Greene with him, and heads straight for Omri Casspi's left hip.
As you can see in the final still shot above, Golden State seals off the defense perfectly. Radmanovic locks up with Tyreke Evans to buy Ellis some space. Dorrell Wright has a clear alley to get the inbounds pass to Ellis, because Curry body-blocks Omri Casspi from contesting it.
Ellis then catches and buries the three-pointer, bringing the Warriors to within one point.
After Pooh Jeter makes one of two free throws for the Kings, Ellis forces the game into overtime (and eventually, a Warrior win) with an isolation move that needs no exposition whatsoever.
Now Sacramento has a 4th-quarter collapse/OT loss to bookend with their 4th-quarter comeback/OT loss last week against the Wizards. Get ready for some fine NBA action, Anaheim!
Tyreke Evans was limited last season. Though he has been seeing a podiatrists in LA, his performance was noticeably weaker compared to his rookie year.
